Altra makes running and walking shoes built around two ideas: a Zero Drop platform, where heel and toe sit at the same height, and the FootShape toe box, which is wide and shaped like a foot so your toes can spread. The brand's story starts in the Utah mountains, where two runners realised the shoe they needed didn't exist, so they made it themselves.
