Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO

Maison MIHARA YASUHIRO is the Tokyo-born label of Mihara Yasuhiro, founded in 1997. You can usually spot it from across the street. Familiar shapes get nudged slightly off-centre, with warped proportions and a sense of play. That shows most clearly in the shoes. The midsoles start as clay prototypes, sculpted by Mihara himself, then 3D-scanned and turned into chunky rubber outsoles with a "melting" look. The sneakers seem sculpted rather than manufactured. If you want somewhere to start, the Wayne and Hank are key styles, and the Peterson is the low-top option. The label also makes jackets, hoodies and more, with a deconstructed streak running through it.
