Porter James

Porter James is a menswear label that began in 2020, designed by Joshua Heares in Auckland, where it is still based. Heares spent a decade in advertising and design before deciding to build something of his own. The clothes are made to be modular and wearable, and each collection grows out of the last. The brand describes its pillars as "Refined, Disciplined and Enduring". Silhouette and fabrication are where the attention goes, and the result is a quiet, contemporary take on menswear classics. There are no logos on the clothes. Quality and simplicity do the talking instead. Influences come from all over, but the brand says its Kiwi upbringing runs through every piece. A good name to know if you like minimalist wardrobes.
