Taiga Takahashi

Taiga Takahashi is a Japanese label built around reconstructing garments from the early 20th century. The approach is deliberately old-fashioned. Production is small-scale and follows traditional manufacturing methods, so you won't find anything made in huge runs. The fabrics are woven in local ateliers on vintage looms, with the focus on fibre quality, density and texture. Each material is then dyed and finished using traditional techniques too, which is where much of the character comes from. If you want to see the pieces in person, they're stocked at CONTEXT TOKYO in Omotesando, Tokyo, and at kune in Hanamaki, Iwate. Online, V-O-F and Tres Bien both carry the collection.
