WTAPS

WTAPS was founded in 1997 by Tetsu Nishiyama, known as TET, and it sits at the heart of the original Japanese streetwear scene. It came out of the Ura-Harajuku movement, arriving just after NEIGHBORHOOD, BAPE and UNDERCOVER, but soon found its own lane. The look is disciplined and military-coded. Nishiyama took field uniforms and outdoor gear and turned them into menswear, which grew into a full collection of shirts, jackets, t-shirts, caps and beanies. Skateboarding helped drive its rise, and the bones logo became something of a uniform for Tokyo skaters. Look out for the GPS coordinates and the "visual uparmored" tagline, which run through the graphics across the range. Early collaborations with UNDERCOVER and BAPE cemented its place.
