Amanda Christensen

Amanda Christensen is a Swedish house for ties, pocket squares, scarves, caps and hats, and its story starts with one woman. Amanda Svensson, a farmer's daughter from Gnesta, came to Stockholm, worked as a cravat seamstress, then started her own company in 1885. She began with white bow ties for gentlemen who wore tailcoats in the evening, and later added black ones, then cravats in colours and patterns. She travelled to Europe and built links with suppliers in Italy and France, when silk was still uncommon. Her line was "I don't sell a price; I sell quality." The brand has held the Swedish Royal Warrant since 1949, and it still makes accessories in silk, wool and linen.
