BETHANY WILLIAMS

Bethany Williams is a London-based designer from the Isle of Man, and her label is built as a social enterprise. The starting point is that social and environmental problems are linked, so she looks for design answers that deal with both. Each collection tells community stories that might otherwise be overlooked. Her recent work draws on chronic illness, mental health and invisible disability, and on her Manx countryside and sea swimming in the Irish sea. It also involves natural dyeing with plants such as wild blaeberries. She favours commissions and longer projects over the fashion cycle. Collaborators include Adidas, Tate and the V&A, and the label has been stocked by Harrods and Selfridges.
