Big Yank

Big Yank is a workwear label that began in Chicago in 1919, launched by the Reliance Company. It's best known for work shirts with clever pocket details, including the cigarette pocket the brand calls the "gacha pocket" and the "yama pocket". The original label eventually disappeared, but Kinji Teramoto revived it under its own name in 2011. His approach centres on work shirts reproduced faithfully from the fabric and parts up, drawing on mid-century American garments. Vintage specialist Yutaka Fujihara of BerBerJin is now Creative Director, and the brand is being rebuilt from the ground up. Current shirts on the official store are 100% cotton, made in Japan, and priced from £218 to £282, with a black jacket-style piece at £559.
