Asics is a Japanese label founded by Kihachiro Onitsuka in 1949, in post-war Japan, on the belief that sport could bring hope. The name comes from the Latin "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano", a sound mind in a sound body. It makes performance footwear and apparel, and its SportStyle range takes technology from its running shoes and mixes it with heritage and modern designs. Its sister brand Onitsuka Tiger is known for the Mexico 66. Stockists such as Très Bien list the Gel-Kayano 14, GT-2160 and Gel-Nimbus 10.1, plus collaborations with Cecilie Bahnsen, Dime and Kiko Kostadinov. Asics also supports mental health charities including Mind in the UK.
