Auralee

Auralee is a Tokyo-based label founded in 2015 by designer Ryota Iwai. The name means "the land that lights up", and it suits the soft, restrained clothes. The palette is smooth and gentle, and the fit is relaxed but tailored. Iwai builds the range around refined basics and careful cuts. Fabrics are developed in house, using yarns and fibres sourced from around the world, and each piece is made from the fabric its job needs. Texture, weight and colour do the work rather than embellishment. Look for mohair polos, cashmere-silk cardigans, featherlight tees, shirting, tailoring and denim. It's a good pick if you want everyday staples that are quiet, well made and built to last.
