KWAIDAN EDITIONS

Kwaidan Editions was founded by husband-and-wife duo Léa Dickely and Hung La, who wanted to empower themselves and step away from the traditional fashion system. The name pairs 怪 (kwai), a strange, mysterious or bewitching apparition, with 談 (dan), talk or recited narrative. The label imagines a world where women can experience true freedom, and it wants to give women a visual language for their own exploration of womanhood. Films are a frequent inspiration. The collections are easy to wear, setting soft, feminine prints against sharp, elongated tailoring. For A/W 21 they looked to Atomage, a 1970s cult magazine, and made slick rubber silhouettes and graphic print t-shirts.
