Micky Oye makes Aloha shirts, and it stays close to the traditional roots of the style. The label's own site walks through the history of the shirt, from Japanese and Chinese tailors in Hawai'i printing kimono-style designs onto western shirts, to the first mention of the Aloha shirt in a 1935 newspaper ad. That history shows in the details. The fabric is viscose, which the brand says is breathable and cooling in summer, unlike cotton or polyester. Every shirt has coconut buttons, and the patterns are matched by hand so they line up across the shirt. The prints are vibrant and detailed, and the cut is the casual one Aloha shirts are known for.
