Moncler

Moncler takes its name from Monestier-de-Clermont, a small mountain village near Grenoble. It began in 1952 with René Ramillon and André Vincent, who made gear for real Alpine conditions: quilted sleeping bags, lined hooded capes and hardy tents for people working at altitude. Protection came first, and that technical thinking still runs through the label's menswear. Outerwear remains the centre of it, with quilted, down-filled nylon silhouettes that are easy to spot. But the range has grown. You'll now find soft knits, technical layers, gilets, trousers, tees and accessories, so a Moncler wardrobe works in town as well as on the slopes. The label also collaborates with Rick Owens.
