Monitaly

Monitaly is a heritage-inspired clothing brand founded under the guidance of Yuki Matsuda, the designer behind Meg Company. It takes classic American workwear and military garments as its starting point, and reworks them through carefully researched design and traditional construction methods. Matsuda's own background explains the approach. He spent his youth in Osaka's Amerikamura, then moved to Los Angeles at 18, where he studied vintage pieces from flea markets like the Rose Bowl and built up what he calls an internal library of them, sorted by technique, purpose and time. The result is functional, characterful clothing that balances old and new. The brand's own site also shows knitwear, including soft alpaca with intricate Fair Isle patterning, made in Peru.
