Mühlbauer

Mühlbauer is a Viennese hat maker with a long family story. Julianna Mühlbauer opened a small hat atelier with a shop attached in the suburb of Floridsdorf in 1903, and the business is now run by her descendant Klaus Mühlbauer, the fourth generation. He designs the collections with two in-house designers, and experimenting is a deliberate part of the process. Hats are made by hand on wooden moulds, in felt, straw, fabric and fur. Most production happens in and around Vienna, with the workshop at Schwedenplatz. Many hats ordered online are made to the customer's measurements, so allow a little time for delivery.
