Oakley began in 1975, founded by Jim Jannard, who moved from motorcycle grips into sunglasses. Urban Industry describes it growing from a modest garage venture into a global name in sports performance gear. The brand is known for science-led design and its Prizm lens technology, made to enhance colour, contrast and detail. It holds over 600 patents, and its range runs from sunglasses and goggles to watches, backpacks, shoes and apparel. Oakley is a subsidiary of Luxottica. On the clothing side, the Field Gear Line was once exclusive to Japan and is now available in the UK and at END. It carries early-'90s DNA, durable fabrics and military-influenced practicality. Retailers also list newer Latitude and Reserve collections.
