SUBU

SUBU is a Japanese footwear brand, established in 2016 and based in Tokyo, that makes one kind of shoe: the winter sandal. Think of the sleeping-bag slippers many of us have come to love, but with a tougher sole. The outsole has four layers and copes with rough ground, from a campsite to a city street. The uppers are Teflon-coated fabric, so they resist water, and the lining is plush. They slip on with no laces, which suits errands, dog walks and working from home. Camping? Urban Industry suggests the Nannen, which uses a flame-retardant fabric and is fine around a campfire. Sizing is straightforward.
