Sage de Cret

Sage de Cret is a Japanese label founded in 2001 by Kimitoshi Chida, who was born in 1966. He moved to Tokyo to study at fashion school, then learned garment construction at a traditional tailoring company before starting his own brand. The name is a coined mix of the French words for wise and order. Military, workwear and traditional dress clothes inform the designs, but the interest is in how they're made: fabric, dyeing and small details. An unstructured blazer has its wool washed for a rumpled finish, and a duffel coat comes in stretch fabric with mesh sleeve lining so it moves easily. Its core idea is comfort, robustness and relaxation. It has been sold internationally since 2013.
