Simonnot-Godard

Simonnot-Godard was founded in 1787 and describes itself as the last French creator of woven handkerchiefs. It works only with linen and cotton, using fine yarns, and the fabrics are still woven and mercerised in France by traditional methods. Its pocket squares are made from the same fine linen and cotton, processed in the Vosges, with a more contemporary, sober design. Patterns take inspiration from drawings in the house's 18th century archives. Trunk Clothiers notes that each pocket square is hand rolled. The process is slow: four months pass between choosing a pattern and finishing a handkerchief. Benjamin Simonnot says the aim is beautiful, unique products at reasonable prices, while keeping the spirit of a family house.
