Valstar

Valstar is a Milan outerwear house founded in 1911. It was the first Italian company to make water-repellent raincoats, and that early practical streak still shows in its coats and jackets. The piece most people know is the Valstarino, launched in 1935. It took the A1 flight jacket worn by US Army Air Corps pilots and reworked it as a sporty, smart jacket for everyday wear. In 2009 it was shown in the From Sign To Dream exhibition in Milan, alongside the Fiat 500 and the Bialetti coffee pot. Today the range covers jackets, coats, leather goods and knitwear, made in Italy from suede, nappa, technical fabrics and other fine materials. Trunk Clothiers and The Local Merchants both stock it.
