YAKU

YAKU is a British label founded in 2023 by Yaku Stapleton, who was born in St Albans and is based in London. He studied at Leeds Beckett and Central Saint Martins, and his MA collection won the L'Oréal Creative Award, as judged by Ib Kamara. That success led to the launch of his namesake label. The debut was a series called 'The ImPossible Family Reunion in RPG Space'. It is full of fantasy and seen through the lens of Afrofuturism. MACHINE-A, the London concept store, describes YAKU as avant-garde and says it mixes personal stories with role-playing game elements. If you like fashion with a story behind it, this is a young label worth watching.
