Big John

Big John is a Japanese denim label founded in 1940. Its own site calls it Japan's first denim maker, and Oi Polloi says it made the first jeans produced in Japan, in Kojima, Okayama, in the 1960s. Kojima has been the centre of Japanese denim ever since. The range is selvedge denim with proper rivets and cuts that have not chased a trend in fifty years, raw or washed, all made in Japan. RARE is the pair to look at: it spearheaded the vintage denim movement in Japan and is still sold today. Beyond jeans, there is a heavyweight 100% cotton thermal and a Wild Duck Canvas collection rooted in 1930s shooting wear.
