Effector

Effector began in 2004 as the house label of Optical Tailor Cradle, an eyewear shop in Japan that opened in 1995. The staff loved music, so the brand is named after guitar effects pedals, and the first frames were called fuzz, distortion, reverb and overdrive. Thick celluloid and acetate ran against the modern styles of the day, but the glasses found fans anyway. Every pair is handmade by craftspeople in Sabae, Fukui, in an average of around 20 steps. The label keeps models in production wherever it can, so a favourite stays available. There are now more than 100 models, including collaborations with Lewis Leathers and NEIGHBORHOOD.
