Japan Blue Jeans

Japan Blue Jeans was established in 2010 and comes from Kojima, in Okayama Prefecture, the heart of Japanese denim. Okayama's makers first reverse-engineered the American jean, and Japan's first domestic denim followed in 1973. The label takes a fabric-first approach, with a broad range of weights, blends and finishes. Its jeans are built around the slow fade, using shuttle-loom weaving and rope dyeing to get the tactile richness of selvedge denim. The brand's own site describes expressive denim woven on vintage shuttle looms by Kojima artisans, and it runs stores in Japan, including Kojima itself, with new shops in Osaka and Fukuoka opening in March 2026.
