Kaptain Sunshine

Kaptain Sunshine is a Tokyo label founded in 2013 by Shinsuke Kojima, a former publisher and self-confessed vintage obsessive. His starting point is old clothes: American workwear and fieldwear, naval uniforms, military pieces and traditional Japanese garments, all run through a Japanese lens. The results are oversized but polished silhouettes in nature-inspired colours. Kojima begins with natural raw materials and technical fabrics, develops original textiles on slow, traditional looms, and has each piece made in Japanese factories. The coat is the signature, built for travel and everyday wear. If you care about how cloth is woven and how a garment is put together, this is a label worth a proper look.
