Velva Sheen

Velva Sheen started in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1932, making sweats, t-shirts, jackets and gym shorts for colleges, camps, schools and the United States Armed Forces. It became particularly well known for tubular knit T-shirts made without side seams, which are more comfortable and hard-wearing. After a decline in the 1990s, the brand was revived under new ownership. The revival draws on the original archive and recreates many old styles using traditional manufacturing techniques, with garments made in the USA. It uses two labels from the past: the Blue Label of the 1950s and 60s, and the Yellow Label of the 1970s and 80s. Expect simple, collegiate-inspired basics rooted in mid-century American sportswear.
