A. Kjaerbede (say it Kee-Yeah-Beed) makes sunglasses on the Danish island of Bornholm, where Adam Geertsen founded the brand in 2016. The name is a local Bornholm term meaning "man decision", which fits Geertsen's careful approach to sourcing good materials without the usual designer price. The brand calls it affordable luxury. Frames such as the Bate, Marvin and Zan are made from acetate or polycarbonate, with metal hinges, scratch-resistant lens coatings and full UV 400 protection. Most fit a medium face, while the Zan runs slightly more oversized. Inspiration comes from photography, architecture and the Scandinavian landscape. Urban Industry suggests pairing the transparent frames with a heavyweight Carhartt WIP jacket.
