Comme des Garçons

Comme des Garçons was founded in Tokyo in 1969 by Rei Kawakubo. It began as a small, boundary-pushing studio, then arrived on the Paris runway in the early 1980s, a moment that changed how the industry thought about shape and texture. Since then it has grown into a whole universe of lines. PLAY brings the heart logo and the Converse sneakers, Homme Plus goes for bold deconstruction, SHIRT reworks staples, and Black is moody and minimal. Homme, overseen by Junya Watanabe, is the easiest place to start: Oxford shirts, parkas, bombers and pleated trousers, made in Japan and built for daily wear.
