Comme des Garçons Play is the stripped-back, straight-to-the-point offshoot of Rei Kawakubo's avant-garde world, introduced in 2002. Where the main line leans on runway theatrics, Play goes for everyday ease. The mark to look for is Filip Pagowski's wide-eyed heart, which has become well known in its own right. The range is built around unfussy staples: t-shirts, easy sweatshirts, pared-back knitwear, relaxed shirts, sneakers and accessories. Palettes are simple, and the heart does the talking. The Converse collaborations are a particular favourite. If you want a bit of Comme des Garçons in your everyday wardrobe without anything showy, this is the place to start.
