Devold

Devold is a Norwegian wool label with a long story. Ole Andreas Devold came back from Germany with a knitting machine in 1853 and began making wool underwear for the fishermen of Ålesund. Nansen wore it across Greenland in 1888, and Amundsen took it to the South Pole in 1911, which is about as thorough a wear test as wool gets. Today the range is built around merino, which helps regulate temperature and manage moisture. You'll find technical base layers and singlets for high-intensity activity, plus warm knitted sweaters for everyday wear. Devold says its "Sheep to Shop" approach keeps traceable wool under control at every stage, and it knits everything at its own mill in Lithuania.
