Gramicci

Gramicci started with a climbing problem. In the 1970s the Stonemasters, a group of free-spirited climbers based at Yosemite National Park, needed clothes that moved as fast as they did. Mike Graham, one of them, made the first true climbing shorts, adding a diamond-shaped gusset for full 180 degree flexibility and a nylon webbing belt you can adjust with one hand. The brand was born in 1982, named after a nickname Graham gave himself, and trousers soon followed, dubbed G-Pants. Surfers and skaters picked them up by the mid-80s, spotting the little hand-drawn running man logo, and the label also found favour in Tokyo, which became its new home. The recipe is still hard-wearing, relaxed, movement-first clothing.
