KAVU

KAVU began on a commercial salmon fishing boat in the Bering Sea in 1991, when 22 year old captain Barry Barr got tired of losing his hats to the wind. He rigged up a prototype from sandal webbing and fishing line, and that became the Strapcap. Back in Seattle, he tracked down local sewers, many working from home, in a city already busy with backpack makers. The logo started as a cardboard cut-out and stands for the Olympic Mountains. Today KAVU makes outdoor wear and bags, from fleeces like the Teannaway to canvas and ripstop trousers and shorts such as the Chilli Lite. The brand calls its outlook "Busy Livin'".
