Maison Margiela

Maison Margiela is a Parisian house that Belgian designer Martin Margiela founded in 1988. It became known for deconstructed fashion, taking classic womenswear silhouettes such as the midi skirt and the Tabi boot and reimagining them. Glenn Martens now carries that style forward. The house describes itself as a haute couture house built on ideas of unconformity, and says it works as a collective. Its codes include the Tabi split-toe shoe and the Heel-less, a shoe with a hidden heel and continuous curved sole, first shown in 2000. The label is also linked with anonymity, which its campaign, starring Rebecca Hall and a masked double, plays on. There is also a Replica fragrance line.
