Momotaro Jeans

Momotaro Jeans has made denim since 2006, working in Okayama and sticking to traditional Japanese craftsmanship. The range runs from substantial selvedge woven from Zimbabwe cotton on vintage machinery to finer fabrics that bring in silk and cashmere. Indigo is the heart of it. The label's "Tokuno Blue" comes from a hunt for deep, saturated colour, using rope-dyeing, air-drying and careful weaving. The cloth is meant to develop well with wear. The styling is dialled back rather than showy. Look for branded hardware, hidden rear-pocket rivets, peach-pink selvedge IDs and indigo-dyed leather patches, plus tailored-style waistband curtains. Jeans and denim shirts both feature, and the name comes from a Japanese folktale.
