Seuvas

Seuvas makes clothes from Kurashiki canvas, a cloth with more than 130 years behind it, sewn using the techniques of Kojima, a historic centre for jeans and school uniforms. The brand calls the result free-spirited clothing. It has its own factory in Kurashiki with vintage looms, and it works in low volumes to keep waste down. Garments are meant to be worn for years, repaired and even reshaped by the wearer. Dyeing partners use natural botanical dyes, including logwood for a deep navy and rare Kyoto Mizuai indigo for softer blues. The detail to look for is the ceramic top button, hand-painted in Amakusa, Kyushu, which appears across the canvas shirts and jackets. Flannel tops sit alongside them.
