Sugar Cane

Sugar Cane is a Japanese label that reproduces classic American workwear, with denim at the centre of the range. Its roots lie in making clothes for American servicemen stationed in Japan, and it was among the first to bring authentic selvedge denim to the Japanese market. It spent over 20 years researching old jeans, then restored vintage power looms to weave fabric as it was made 50 to 100 years ago. Some of its denim blends cotton with sugar cane fibre. The Union Star jeans use heavy 14.25 ounce Zimbabwe cotton in a dark hard wash, and there is also a 1940's Special at 13.5 ounces.
