Whitesville

Whitesville started as an American sportswear label, popular in the 1940s and 1950s for T-shirts, sweatshirts and varsity jackets. It disappeared from the market as competition grew. In 2007 Toyo Enterprise, the Japanese company behind Sugar Cane, Buzz Rickson's and Sun Surf, revived it after researching the history and original garments. Today the label recreates mid-century American basics in Japan. It is best known for tubular-knit T-shirts, made on vintage circular knitting machines so the body has no side seams. They come in crew neck, Henley, pocket and two pack styles, cut from combed cotton. The fit follows 1950s sportswear, with a slightly shorter body and higher armholes. There are also heavyweight loopwheeled hoodies.
