Patta

Patta is an Amsterdam label founded in 2004 by Edson Sabajo and Guillaume "Gee" Schmidt. The two met in the '90s through a shared love of hip-hop, and it began as a sneaker store on the Zeedijk, where rappers, DJs and artists would hang out on the couch. The name is Surinamese slang for "shoe", a nod to the founders' heritage. Today it makes hoodies, tees, pants, jackets, knitwear and accessories, with graphics that often reference rap tracks and scene figures such as MC Eiht. Patta is also known for collaborations with Nike, Converse, Jordan and Vans, including several Air Max 1 and Air Max 90 releases. It is one of the few internationally revered black-owned streetwear brands.
