PLEASURES

PLEASURES is a Los Angeles label built on nostalgia, subculture and a bit of mischief. Alex James and Vlad Elkin founded it in 2015, and the graphics are where it starts: t-shirts and hoodies pulling from punk flyers, emo heartbreak and early internet culture, with nods to the punk, metal and hip hop scenes of the '80s and '90s. James came to it as a designer and vintage reseller, and the DIY spirit of the scenes he grew up in shows. Its breakout was the Kurt Cobain tee, which proved the label was happy to court controversy. Since then it has worked with Oasis and others. The range runs from skate-ready basics to statement outerwear, with bold typography throughout.
